Cholesterol, Schmolesterol. Really?

Try saying that ten times fast. And try telling it to the 39-year-old wife of The Driver's pal Matt -- who will undergo a triple bypass next week.

Zoiks.

The good news is that Mrs. Matt is young (easier recovery -- relatively speaking, of course), and she's never had a heart attack (a damaged heart is harder to correct with bypass).

The prognosis is good. Open heart surgery, however, is still no walk in the park.

Not to distract from Mrs. Matt's situation, but The Driver has had to address his own cholesterol levels over the past couple of years. He also helped write the "Cholesterol" section of the American Heart Association web site. And while he cringed when he had to suggest to readers that they order their cheeseburgers without the cheese (or the burger), he learned a thing or two in the process.

Know your numbers, folks.

Good thoughts for Mrs. Matt.
