Lovey's Back. Plus One.

Last Friday, we filmed Lovey, the Feral Rock Pigeon, leaving our courtyard. We wondered whether we would ever see him / her again.
Two days later, following an afternoon of shopping, we opened our courtyard gate to find Lovey standing on our patio table. And this time, he / she wasn't alone.

The new Feral Rock Pigeon was fumbling around the courtyard, trying to figure out how to get back over the eight-foot wall. This earned Lovey's friend the nickname "Flappy" (actual name pending).

We raced inside the house so as not to disturb the prodigal pigeon and his guest. But Lovey soon took off -- and after a few minutes of walking around the courtyard, "Flappy" followed.

Flash forward to Tuesday afternoon. Two more days since we saw Lovey and / or "Flappy." The Driver was busy cleaning the aquarium for the hateful, ungrateful and overly aggressive fish. He happened to glance out the front door, only to find Lovey standing on the patio table. The birds' food dish was filled with rainwater, so The Driver rushed to locate a container for fresh birdseed. Finding all of the smaller, more suitable bowls and dishes being used by one animal or another, he resorted to a standard cereal bowl.

Once fed, Lovey drank rainwater from the patio chair -- sticking his / her beak into the metal mesh to retrieve water trapped in the gaps. Fascinating. Unfortunately, The Driver wasn't able to capture this moment on video. Not only had he filled up his memory card, but he was also describing the scene by phone to Mrs. Driver. The Driver is a notoriously bad multi-tasker.

As Lovey perched on the patio table, down came "Flappy" into the courtyard. The two stood on the table for a bit, then flew off together. Minutes later, "Flappy" returned without Lovey. He / she seemed to be inspecting the courtyard from the top of the wall.

Could Lovey and "Flappy" be shopping for a nest? Could "Flappy" be merely some skank that Lovey picked up at the local watering hole? Could they both be dudes?

Hopefully, there will be many more developments. And hopefully, dear reader, you will care.
