Sex and the City and The Driver

It wasn't that bad. It stayed true to the TV show. It basically felt like watching the TV show for a little over two hours. Especially if you're used to watching the TV show with 600 of your closest girlfriends. And they've been planning to watch this TV show for four years. In fact, they got dressed up for it. And sorry, that seat's taken.

The fact that it felt like the TV show was, in this viewer's mind, a good thing. The challenge for the writers was to keep what was essentially the series finale from feeling like a series finale. And for the most part, they pulled it off. Only once or twice were we aware that the screenplay was busy trying to tie several years-old story lines into neat little bows. For some reason, someone felt the need to introduce a brand new character. So that was a bit forced.

And there you have it. The Driver, Mrs. Driver, and an unnamed married friend (sans husband) saw "Sex and the City." The Driver went of his own volition. And in retrospect, the friend's husband kinda missed out. After all, there was low-fat frozen yogurt beforehand, and shoe shopping at Barney's afterward. It just doesn't get more fabulous.

Had this not been family weekend for me, I would've gone to this with you.
